Completed: Full Sleeve, Blackout Cover-up Tattoo 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa'
By loyaltattoo · Tokyo
Completed: Full sleeve, blackout style cover-up tattoo featuring 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa'. A great wave rises as if to attack, symbolizing a life tossed about by the swells. The underlying tattoo is covered up at the center of this swirling composition. In the course of life, there are times when we make wrong choices. In that drama, rather than depicting nature as it is, a dynamic composition with exaggeration reinvigorates the person. The motif is Katsushika Hokusai's masterpiece, 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' (Kanagawa Oki Nami Ura), one of the 46 works from his series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji' (Fugaku Sanjūrokkei).
