Tattoo artists in Aichi
In Aichi Prefecture, tattoo artists are primarily found in Nagoya, but also in Ichinomiya and Toyohashi. Some artists who do not disclose their specific area specialize in anime-style fine line, mandala, or American traditional (a classic American style characterized by bold lines and clear color palettes). Here, based on the works of Aichi tattoo artists featured on tattooers.jp, we summarize the characteristics of each area and how to find an artist that suits you.

Ichinomiya
Around Owari-Ichinomiya Station, you'll find artists specializing in small one-point tattoos, watercolor style, and blackwork.
Toyohashi
In Toyohashi, Higashi-Mikawa, there are artists specializing in black and gray.
Choose by 'Artist' rather than 'Studio'
When looking for a tattoo, many people probably start by searching for studio names. However, even if artists belong to the same studio, their preferred styles and line work differ. The artist is the one who determines the final result.
On tattooers.jp, each artist's works are compiled on a single page. Unlike Instagram, posts don't get lost in a feed, so you can look back and compare past works. When choosing an artist, we recommend considering the following points:
- How many works in your desired style the artist has done
- Whether the line thickness, intricacy, and coloring style match your preference
- Whether the estimated prices are published

What to Know Before Getting a Tattoo
In September 2020, the Supreme Court ruled that tattoo sessions performed by tattoo artists do not constitute a 'medical act' that only doctors are permitted to perform under the Medical Practitioners' Act. However, some local governments prohibit performing irezumi on individuals under 18 years old by ordinance. Booking requests on tattooers.jp are also for individuals aged 18 and over.
For several weeks after the session, the tattooed area will be in a similar state to a wound. Aftercare methods, such as moisturizing and sun protection, may vary depending on the artist, so please follow the instructions of the artist who performed your session. When deciding on the placement of your tattoo, it's also advisable to consider that some facilities, such as hot springs, swimming pools, and gyms, may still refuse entry to individuals with tattoos.
